Astrid

Astrid came into our care from Christchurch Pound, she was found living rough on an empty section, terrified of humans & sleeping under a stack of pallets. She had to be caught in a trap & then a catchpole for everyone’s safety. She was terrified shut down and traumatised.  Until we has space to take her into our care, the Pound staff worked with her to build her confidence.

She is great in a home environment, but does find the outside world & the people in it worrying, so can be reactive in situations she is unsure of.  Once you are in her circle of trust, she is the sweetest girl you could find.  She has built her confidence walk around the rescue so much, & in these environments that she is confident in, she is such a dream to walk.

We have estimated her age to be around 1.5 years & she is a teeny wee thing at just 23kgs.  She did pass her cat testing, but is what we call a medium trainable, so very good management needs to be in place with the cat & her for a while.  We would suggest at this stage she is best suited to be an only pet.  We have just started walking her with another dog, but this will be a work in progress for a while.

She is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, registered & like all our dogs are destined to be family dog that sleeps indoors with the rest of the family.
